Vikings win five set thriller over All Saints, Davis sets record

Updated: Oct 15, 2021

Fort Worth, TX - The Vikings (12-8, 1-0) continued their winning streak, beating All Saints on the road in five sets. In a highly contested match, with both student sections out in full force, the Vikings took the fifth set, 15-11 to close out the victory.

The Vikings took the first two sets behind the play of heralded freshmen Sul Davis. The Vikings won the first set 25-21 and took the second set 25-19.

All Saints had no answer for Davis. Davis set a TAPPS record with 42 kills during the match. After her state record performance, she was named DFW volleyball player of the week for the second time this season.

“Suli has made an immediate impact on our program since her arrival on campus. I knew she had this type of potential and to be honest she is just scratching the surface. She is a great kid, who is all about the right things and comes from a huge supportive family,” head coach Rosalyn Thorpe stated.

After All Saints battled back to win the third and fourth sets, the stage was set for the final set. Battling back from adversity, Davis sealed the deal blocking an All Saints attempt to secure the district victory.

The Vikings will continue district play on the road Friday at Midland Christian.
