Fort Worth, TX - Having a chance to put your name in the record book does not come a long every season. With a goal of winning another district championship long ago shored up, the Vikings wanted to keep their district win streak going. Both streaks are still intact after the Vikings thrashed All Saints 11-0 Wednesday night.
Taking advantage of five All Saints errors, the Vikings scored in every inning but the 5th. Senior Emmy Hornick, playing in her final district game, plated two runs with a solid single in the first.
Second baseman would continue her hot streak at the plate of late with a solo home run in the second inning to get the scoring started. The Vikings would score five more times in the second to put the game away for good. Both Saldivar sisters would have an RBI and senior Kaylee Cox also knocked in a run.
Hornick would knock in two more runs in the 3rd inning on a misplayed fly ball to the right fielder, making the score 10-0.
Ten runs would be plenty for junior star pitcher Makena Uranga. Urnaga struck out nine, scattering four hits and walking one in her complete game victory.
With the win the Vikings secured their fourth consecutive, undefeated district championship. The senior class of Hornick, Cox, and Jackie Ericson walked off Hansen Field undefeated in district play for their careers.
The Vikings will finish up the regular season hosting Bishop Lynch in a non-district matchup Friday night at home before tuning their attention to the playoffs.
