Round Rock, TX - Looking to continue their late season push and end their season with a state championship, the Vikings were unable to push across a goal, losing 2-0 to the Village School. The Vikings were unable to put together a solid offensive attack all game, held at bay by a stout Village School defense.
Village School would get on the board midway through the fist half with a goal at the 20:00 minute mark. The Vikings would add a goal in the middle of the second half to account for the final score.
The Vikings would also play a man down for the remaining 34 minutes of the game after losing a player to a red card violation.
“The boys had one heck of a run to get this to point. It is obviously disappointing to lose in the state championship match, but our boys have nothing to hang their heads about.” head coach Sean Eddington said.
The loss ended the careers of Vikings seniors Jacob Lewis, Alex Bustos, Matt Martinez, Johnny Gonzalez, Jake Grogan, Jake Gernhausor, Parker Kambarn and Ethan Zavala.
“The seniors have provided great leadership and we will miss them for sure,” Eddington finished.
With the loss the Vikings finish the season with an overall record of 11-7-1, 5-1.
