Fort Worth, TX - Rosalyn Thorpe has been named the new head girls volleyball coach by Jordan Hampton, Nolan Catholic HS Director of Athletics. Thorpe replaces former head volleyball coach, Kamiesha Melton, who resigned to pursue other professional opportunities.
Thorpe arrives from Fort Worth Country Day, where she led the program for six seasons. Over the course of her years in charge, FWCD put together an overall record of 75-46. Thorpe also led the Falcons to one district championship during her time.
“I am extremely excited Rosalyn has taken the reins of our volleyball program,'' said Hampton. “After speaking with her during this process it became very clear she has all the tools personally, professionally and spiritually to make an immediate impact on the girls and families within her program. She has big goals and aspirations and we will do everything in our power to help the Viking volleyball program reach new heights!”
Thorpe takes over a program rich with young, up and coming talent as well upperclassmen who have been through the difficult TAPPS 6A district and region.
“I am super excited and honored to be a part of Nolan Catholic athletics and have the opportunity to carry on a tradition of excellence,” Thorpe stated. “I expect nothing less than giving it your all, not only from our girls but also myself. The expectations are high and I believe these girls are ready for the challenge!”
Thorpe was also a club coach for the well known volleyball club, Integrity, for two years.
She graduated from Arlington Baptist, where she was team MVP as well as an All-American.
Thorpe will also teach in the Physical Education & Health department at Nolan Catholic HS.
