The Paschal Invitational is a challenging course and known for its large field. Our cross country team, comprised of both seasoned veterans and promising newcomers, arrived with a clear goal: to make their mark. Our varsity teams would compete in a very wet and muddy 5k.
The conditions are never easy out at the Athletic Performance Ranch but the Vikings made the most of their opportunity. The morning began with the boys' race, where are athletes showcased their amazing determination on a very demanding course. Santiago Leslie led the way for the Vikings with a time of 18:25. He was quickly followed by Alex Aleman (18:36) and Nahoa Rogge (18:41).
The girls would step up to the line next. Sophomore Ava Talabock was just shy of cracking the top 20 in a very loaded field of over 140 runners. She finished with a time of 21:18. Freshman Georgia Giesinger had another solid performance, staying inside the top 40 with a time of 21:50.
The Viking will look to continue their strong performances at the Southlake Carrol #2 XC Invite on Saturday, September 23 at Bob Jones Park.
