LVS make annual Florida trip

Fort Lauderdale, FL - During the 20 plus year tenure of Jay Fitzgerald’s run as LVS head coach, traveling to Florida pre-Christmas break has become a right of passage for the program. This year LVS made the trek to take on three elite programs from Florida.

Playing the first of three scheduled matches of the week against ArchBishop McCarthy, LVS started their trip off on the right foot. Led by a hat trick from Savannah Meyers and a single goal by Avery Pick, LVS defeated the home team 4-1.

Match two top 20 nationally ranked teams, LVS vs Lourdes Academy. The match would end in a 1-1 draw, as Pick continued her strong season campaign by notching another goal.

The third and final match of the Florida portion of their schedule, pitted LVS against arguably their toughest opponent of the season, #17 ranked and 8-time national champion, St. Thomas Aquinas. LVS hung tough, but were defeated 2-0.

LVS ended the Florida swing 1-1-1 before they head back home to enjoy the Christmas break.

LVS will return to action on New Year’s Eve vs Keller HS in a scrimmage before turning their attention to the National Elite Prep Showcase played on the campus of Nolan Catholic.
