LVS battles elite competition in NEPS

Fort Worth, TX - The National Elite Prep Showcase features the best of the best year in and year out. This year's edition hosted on the campus of Nolan Catholic is no different. Teams from throughout the country traveled to Funky Town, USA from near and far to compete.

LVS opened their portion of the NEPS, squaring off against Katy Jordan. Led by goals from Sierra Padilla and Avery Hutka, LVS defeated the visitors 2-0 from south Texas.

Game two for LVS, featured a match against the 20th ranked team in the country, Round Rock HS. Falling behind early in the match, LVS was never able to gather momentum, falling 3-1. Padilla notched another goal late in the contest, accounting for the only LVS goal of the match.

The third and final match of the NEPS, featured LVS vs Steel Canyon HS from California. In the rematch of a great match from two seasons ago, which LVS won, the visitors returned the favor, beating LVS, 1-0. In a match which went back and forth from start to finish, Steel Canyon made one more play than the Lady Vikings to secure the win.

“The NEPS is one of the elite events in the country and we are always grateful to be a part of the event,” head coach Jay Fitzgerald said. “Our girls have never shied away from competition or playing the best, and these three matches were no different. We got better this week!”

LVS will return to the pitch next week in the first annual Ernie Holland Invitational hosted by Brewer High School.
