Defending state champs hand Vikings first district loss

Fort Worth, TX - The Vikings (13-10, 2-1) suffered their first district loss of the season falling to the TAPPS 6A defending state champions, Liberty Christian Warriors, in three sets. The Warriors, who have been the class of the district for multiple years, were pushed by the Vikings but held off every rally.

The Vikings battled back to 23-23 in the first set, but the seasoned Warriors never blinked, finishing off the final two points of the set to win 23-25. Nerves were apparent early on in the contest as both teams had service errors.

The Warriors would take the second set 19-25, behind the play of senior outside hitter Madison Morrow. The Vikings were unable to stage a rally in the third set and fell 17-25.

The Vikings were led by freshman Suli Davis with 17 kills and sophomore Alyssa Karl, three aces.

The Vikings are back in action on Friday night at The Greenhill School in non-district play. Opening serve is scheduled for 6:30 pm in Dallas.
