Vikings advance four to state championship meet

Arlington, TX - Heading into the regional championship meet on the campus of University of Texas Arlington the biggest stage awaited the Vikings. Competing against best schools and athletes from the north side of TAPPS, the Vikings held their own, while sending four athletes to the state championship meet in Waco.


Led by sophomore middle distance runner Joe Jackman and junior Brian Larson, the Vikings will send four athletes to state on the boys' side.


Jackman advanced in the 800M finishing second and the mile by finishing fourth.


Larson will compete in the mile run and pole vault competitions.


Senior sprinter and jumper Jackson Reed advanced in the 110M hurdles, finishing second while setting a new school record time of 15.54. Reed will also compete in the triple jump.


Senior Tre Parks-Vinson will compete in the long jump competition.


The girls failed to advance any runners to state, as senior sprinter Da’Sha Davis finished both the 100M and 200M dashes in 5th place.


The Vikings athletes will head to Waco Wednesday night with the prelims Thursday and the finals schedule for Friday.
