Parish beats Vikings, secures district title

Fort Worth, TX - In a matchup featuring the top two teams in TAPPS Division I, the Panthers from Parish defeated the Vikings (3-6, 3-3) 63-35. With the win Parish secures another TAPPS district championship. The Vikings beat Parish last season to win their own district championship.

The Vikings struggled all night to stop the rushing attack of Parish as the Panthers rushed for 446 yards. The Vikings allowed five rushing touchdowns as well as four passing touchdowns.

Offensively sophomore running back Kewan Lacy had another 100 yard rushing evening, running for 156 yards on only ten carries. Lacy scored twice as his stellar sophomore campaign continued. Lacy has jumped on the TAPPS scene this season setting him up for big junior and senior seasons.

Junior running back DK Smittick also had a rushing touchdown and junior wide receiver Jaiden Burnett added a touchdown catch.

As the second half opened, junior defensive back Antonio Hall picked up a Parish pass for a pick six touchdown. The Vikings would get no closer than 28-14, as the Panthers scored two quick touchdowns after the interception return.

The Vikings will return home next Friday night for Senior Night as they host Prestonwood Christian Academy. The Vikings will look to secure a home playoff game with a victory. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
