LVS wins 20th consecutive area championship

Fort Worth, TX - Very few programs in the state can hold claim to 20 straight area championships, but after claiming a 2-0 victory over visiting TCA, LVS reached this unprecedented level of success. With the playoff win, LVS advances to the TAPPS Division I regional championship where they will square off against John Paul II.

“Our program's success stands on its own and all the credit goes to our current and past players,” hall of fame head coach Jay Fitzgerald said after the victory.

Senior Victoria Watson got LVS on the board with a goal and freshmen Charisma Artega added the first goal of her young career.

The two goals were plenty as senior goalkeeper Allie Steining added another shutout to her high school record.

“We did the right things tonight to advance. Our program has always had bigger goals than the area championship. We try to focus on the process and playing the right way night in and night out,” Fitzgerald said.

Regional championship details will be announced in the coming days.
